Dirty Overlay

In the Sugarplum Paperie store there are two “neat and clean” cardboard paperie packs. They were created for those times when you just want to let your photos and elements do the talking. But if you’re anything like me, you just can’t resist dirtying up the edges, like so:

Observant

That’s why I created today’s freebie:

Dirty Overlay

DETAILS:
Contains one dirty overlay
12 x 12 at 300 dpi, saved as .png file
Drop shadow for illustration only

There are three main ways to use an overlay like this:

  • Copy and paste it over your paper, leaving the blending mode at “Normal.” This will look like black ink.
  • Change the blending mode to “Overlay” and play around with the opacity percentage. I used Overlay here, with the opacity set to 75%.
  • Change the blending mode to “Soft Light” and play around with the opacity percentage. Soft Light works just like Overlay, except that it is more subtle.

I hope you enjoy playing around with this freebie! As always, I love to see your creations, so feel free to leave me a link. You never know–YOU could be featured here on the blog!
