Midnight Garden Party and Pumpkin Patch Freebie
Well—can you believe it?! We are well into October now. Where has the time gone? Wasn’t it just Spring?!
The beginning of October to me means that it’s also the beginning of the Holiday Season. Are you ready for it? Oh, my! Lots of fun and lots of busy bustling! My favorite time of year and the craziest time of year, all rolled into one. Ha!
Well, I have a new kit in the shop today that celebrates the season! It’s a Halloween-ish kit, done Sugarplum Paperie style! Now, I’m not really one to celebrate Halloween with a house full of bats and cats, but I do love the colors of the season (and flowers–I always love flowers!). So, I wanted to make a kit that was “seasonal” without really being “themed.” And my wonderful creative team helped me to come up with a name that encompassed all those thoughts. So, now I proudly present to you my new “Halloween-ish” kit, Midnight Garden Party:
You’ll find Midnight Garden Party in both the Sugarplum Shop and my shop at the Digichick today. And, as always, it’s 20% off at both stores!
This kit is also available in a separate paperie pack:
And embellishment pack:
Here are some gorgeous layouts and projects from my creative team, using the new kit! First, here is a gorgeous layout from Christine (I love those snapshots, don’t you?):
And here are some fantastic layouts from Amy, Krista and Crystal (just click to enlarge):
And here’s a trio of beautiful layouts from Nett, Krista and Kate:
And some more beauties from Nett, Jessy and Sya:
And even some yummy hybrid goodness from Jen, Kim and Kristie:
Ooo! I just love them all! So, as you can see, this kit isn’t limited to just Halloween-ish stuff. You can use it for everyday photos, too! But also I have a cute little add-on freebie just for you today—it’s for those who would consider themselves “Halloween Traditionalists” and would miss the orange if I left it out all together!
I made you something and I’ve named it Pumpkin Patch! It perfectly coordinates with the Midnight Garden Party kit (just click to download)!:
Here’s a gorgeous layout from Denise, using the freebie with a few other goodies:
Included in this freebie are 2 orange papers and 3 orange embellishments. I hope you enjoy them!
And happy scrapping!

A Day in the Life Challenge
Hey there! Jen here with another Sugarplum Blog Challenge for ya.
So, when I started thinking about what I wanted this challenge to be, I kept asking myself “why do I scrap?” Well, the main reason I started scrapbooking was to preserve my family’s special memories and to journal about the big events in our lives. However, I find that I often forget about the small, but important, everyday events. I wanted to create a project that captured some of those everyday memories of my son’s life as a toddler. Your challenge is to do something similar—I want you to scrap about a day, start to finish, in your life or the life of someone special to you. It can be just an average ordinary day, or it can be a special day (such as a wedding, graduation, or birth), but I’d like you to journal about the events of the day so that we get a feel of what the day was like from beginning to end. Maybe you include a timeline of sorts or maybe you just write up a narrative of the day’s activities. Whatever. And feel free to get creative with this project – the sky’s the limit. You can do a digital layout or any type of hybrid project you can think of.
Of course, because I’m on the Sugarplum Hybrid team, I went with hybrid. Here’s what I came up with…

It’s a little mini album titled “A Day in the life of Dean” (at 21 months). For my project, I ripped apart one of my son’s board books that he doesn’t read anymore and glued my printed pages down onto the board book pages with Mod Podge. I re-bound the book using my bind-it-all and added some ribbons for embellishment. I kept the design relatively simple, letting the photos and journaling take center stage. I used papers from Whimsy Doodle and Autumn Blooms along with the Clear White Alpha and a frame from Grapefruit Twist, and that’s it!!
Here are a few peeks at some of the inside pages…

And just so you see that this project doesn’t have to be QUITE as involved as all this, here’s a cute page from our very own Crystal:
Ok, now for the rules: You have from Friday, October 3rd to Thursday, October 9th to play along. Try to use some Sugarplum goodness in your project (freebies are fine!), have fun, and hit us up with a link to your project in the comments on this post. I’ll pick a winner on Friday, Oct 10 for a gift certificate to the Sugarplum Store!
